Power Relief First Line Leader

The Pensacola Mill is currently seeking a Relief First Line Leader (FLL) for our Power Business Unit.


 


Position Scope:


The Relief First Line Leader's primary responsibility is to fill in for Power First Line Leader vacancies to ensure the safe and efficient operation of a 12 hour rotating shift of hourly employees operating in the power, recovery, evaporators and WLTO process areas to ensure department and mill goals are met.  There are approximately 12 hourly employees under the leadership of this position.  The Power Business Unit equipment consists of multiple recovery boilers, power boilers, turbine generators, a kiln/caustic room, multiple environmental compliance monitoring systems, and overall mill power house common utilities such as mill water and air systems.  When this position is not filling a vacancy, they will support the Power/Recover/WLTO Area Process Managers (APM) by working on other assignments and projects that ensure safe, consistent, reliable, and cost effective operations.  This position leads in safety, environmental compliance, employee engagement, crew one to ones, hourly team development, process productivity, efficiency, and reliability. They interact with mill operations, maintenance, and management personnel on a day-to-day basis while performing their duties.  This position works within the Power Business Unit and reports to the Power Business Unit Manager (BUM).


 


Position Responsibilities:


The Relief First Line Leader will work closely with a variety of different areas throughout the mill including operations, maintenance, technical, and management.



  • Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results

  • Directly lead and actively engage operating team to provide excellent results in reliable and cost effective operations using key operating windows and key performance indicators as guidance

  • Report and communicate safety and performance measurements against objectives

  • Support data gathering and timely response to reliability related incidents

  • Conduct one to one developmental discussions and coach employees to accomplish team goals

  • Provide direct support for and participation in the mill's structured cost reduction efforts/teams

  • Lead and deliver results through GMS based processes and systems

  • Maintain strong relationships with other Fibers Business Unit personnel as well as operating and maintenance department leaders

  • Enforce mill rules and agreements, taking corrective actions as needed to address concerns Coordinate training and development for crew

  • Actively use and improve upon existing systems for managing daily operations

  • Coordinate training and development for the crew

  • Initiate and facilitate problem solving (TCC)

  • Understand and promote Manufacturing Excellence tools and processes

  • Support 5S program for the area and drive improvement projects, audit systems, and excellent results

  • Provide support for capital project development and implementation

  • Implement systems to improve/sustain results

  • Facilitate the implementation of new procedures and controls required by the change in facilities, products, and corporate policies and procedures

  • Participate as a member of a business unit

Required Experience:


Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in a fully integrated paper manufacturing facility or an equivalent combination of experience and relevant higher education is required.  Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience is preferred.  International Paper FLL Onboarding curriculum must be completed before assuming responsibility for a team.  Must be experienced using a computer and skilled in word processing, spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), SAP business systems, and other databases.  Position level may vary based on experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
